Hello from VIGO Owner
« on: May 08, 2012, 10:01:11 PM »
HI all,
Am new VIGO Owner 07'
Mainly stock standard, Canopy, MCC BullBar and Local Tow Bar and Winch "Made in China" and Steering Bash guard.
Would love to do Extreme off roading, but would like to gain more experience and plenty of like minded friends with this car.

Am looking for reccomendations of where to make/fabricate rock sliders for the Vigo and some decent camping gear....
Reccomendations anyone?

Welcome Sealan.

Just one recommendation from me: for serious offroading or playing, consider getting a 2nd car. Vigo is a great car, but there are other cars out there more suitable for such activities.

Vigo is not made for extreme offroading, if you wanna go extreme then you better listen to KGB and get a 2nd car. The Vigo is still a great car though, I've been to lots of places in it and have learnt it's limitation sometimes in a hard way.
If you still want to get some extra protection for the Vigo, go look for Ah Lau in jalan chan sow lin 4.  :cheers

Well well well - an EXTREME VIGO - having seen them struggle to mount a KERB in 4wd or a grasssy slope I wanna seee this.

Mummies  ADvice.
1. Cut off the rear from just behind the spring hangers. Then you have no issues with it hanging up the rear.
2. Ditch the DING DONG winch and slap in a real WARN 8274
3. Cut the front off just in front the of the RADIATOR and make it flush the overhang is too great.
4. Get a better engine especially if AUTO . the AUTO sucks.
5. Get rid of the IFS it really sucks offroad

6. Sell it and buy a real 4x4 and not a PICKUP (unless its a 79 series or a 75).
7. I have a lIKE mind but it does not include recovering HILUX's, or other JAP pickups (unless its a 75 or a POOTROL PICKUP) MISS BITCHY's and HEEEPS are my limit.

Extreme for a VIGO may just be crossing a driveway crossover :) . GO view the RFC HILUX video clips and see what they cannot do.

welcome to the forum.

Welcome to ORS and post some pictures of your hilux.

For the side rails you obvioulsy have a front bumper and other parts, so why not use same supplier?

All, Advise well taken.
Well the vigo is the 2nd car meant for camping and some rough use.
would like to gain experience first before I go to the next phase,
Thus anything I learn from u all who have all the prior experience would help me.
Will look for Ah Lau for the sliders.
Will post picts soon.

Must add what SNEAKERS does it have on it you never stated?

REad the REKOM trip report and decide if you HILUX would make it in the WET or the DRY.

Of course a vigo can make it. Dry no problem. If too wet might be in trouble a little on the reckom track.

What size you need yes there is places.

I get mine through my hardware store.

18*24 is a good size

we have 14people happily under a 40*20 previous week (but that is VERY VERY heavy). $500rm

I can also get LIGHT nylon and small 20*30 or whaterver size you want at around $350rm.
